I'm pleased to announce that so-called "active menus" are

now functional and have been tested OK under linux (Kubuntu 10.04) with build 10 of version 10.06.

Active menus make it possible to navigate either within the current play group or to jump to another track of another group whilst the track is playing,
thus avoiding navigation through a top menu, or using the Forward/Backward arrows on the remote. This feature is most useful when you have many tracks in a group as a distant track may be pointed to by selecting the link with the remote and then instantly accessed after selection (latency is < 0.5 s on my player).

A web page will be added to explain how active menus work.

They may be generated either with or without top menus.

Currently only "automatic" generation is supported (no customized colors or text or background images) but I intend to improve that soon.
Example of command line may be:

dvda-author -g *.wav -g *.wav *.flac *.aiff --workdir working_directory -S [--topmenu] --menustyle active [--cdrecord]

As with all new features of 10.06, some degree of unstability is still to be expected, yet I prefer to release than retain.
